robin robin Short story..had dealer replace the steering shaft as its joint had slop in it. Got car back and drove it home and it was sloppier than when I took it in! Don't believe me ? Mark the position of the bolt/nut , then loosen 2-3 turns , then tighten it back up. As long as you count the turns properly, you will surpass your original Mark. And take up slack in the yoke-to-shaft. Of course you could have the small u- joint in the shaft going bad also..... Can you help me make the steering gear more precise or direct.
The center position is too much leeway.
There is another steering mechanism that works better, or you can adjust it mechanically better. Thank you for feedbackrobin Several items to check in this thread.

Mine has 8500 miles on it and has been perfect right up until a few months ago. Just started feeling play in it one day. It's not a lot, just enough to be irritating and to wonder what happened
weezymslc10 If all other things check out then Loosen and then re tighten the bolt on the steering yoke as it comes thru the firewall to engine compartment!
Remember from my jeep days that yoke is different metal than shaft so they expand at different temps.
